Psychotherapy and Dance/Movement Therapy Services

I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) and a registered dance/movement therapist (R-DMT). As a humanistic-client centered therapist, I offer everything from traditional talk psychotherapy, traditional dance/movement therapy (utilizing movement and body in the therapeutic process) and anything in between for clients who want some movement or somatic processing along with traditional talk therapy. I work with all ages from 18 months-adults. I believe that every client knows what they need to heal and find mind and body health. While I am there to support and guide you on your journey, it is up to the client to determine the balance of processing through talking, movement, mindfulness, making art, using music and sound, etc. for your wellness journey. I use the modalities of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), focusing on the triangle of how our emotions, thoughts, and actions all affect one another with Polyvagal Theory, using knowledge of the nervous system and strengthening healthy neurological pathways while wiring new pathways to heal underlying trauma, building emotional resilience and coping skills to find happiness amid current and future stressors or traumas. All of this is informed by my training from my MA in Somatic Psychology with an emphasis on Dance/Movement Therapy from Naropa University as well as my certifications as a Laban Movement Analyst from Columbia College Chicago and Alexander Technique from Alexander Technique Denver.

We Serve Clients of all ages, in all stages of life.

Child Therapy Modalities: Play Therapy, Dance and Movement Therapy, Art Therapy, Music Therapy, CBT, and Age Appropriate Polyvagal Theory.

We believe in giving children choice of how they want to express themselves and process their emotions and experiences. We have a large space for dance, movement, and any type of play, full play therapy supplies including dress up, dolls, toys, games, STEM and building toys, age-appropriate music, arts and crafts supplies, and props that encourage movement. We believe in providing a safe space for clients to process any past traumas and current life stressors, empowering children to better manage their emotions through learning more about their nervous system, broadening and expanding their coping skills, improving their communication and relationships, improving overall mood, and any other goals you may have. We have experience with children with trauma, neurodiversity (ADHD and ASD), all abilities, and many different mental health conditions. Child therapy also helps lay a foundation of mental health, helping kids be healthier and happier throughout their life.

Therapy for Teens: Some teens prefer similar activities to younger children, some enjoy exploring dance/movement therapy and/or somatic therapy, and some lean more toward traditional talk therapy.

Just like every age group, every session will look different for every client. Some teen clients enjoy activities like making slime, painting, drawing, playing board games, sand tray therapy, or making crafts. Teens can also chose dance/movement therapy approaches, somatic exploring, traditional talk therapy, and any combination of these types of therapy based on their needs and preferences. We believe in providing a safe space for clients to process any past traumas and current life stressors, empowering teens to better manage their emotions through learning more about their nervous system, broadening and expanding their coping skills, improving their communication and relationships, improving overall mood, and any other goals they may have. This stage of life comes with changes in hormones, developing their individuality, and exploring the idea of becoming an adult. We have experience with teens with trauma, neurodiversity (ADHD and ASD), all abilities, and many different mental health conditions. The psychoeducation and coping skills learned in therapy should help lay a foundation for mental health throughout a teen’s life.

Therapy for Adults in All Stages: There are many different stages from being a young adult, to middle life, or being a 65+ older adult. Adults can choose what type of therapy is best for your needs.

Your stressors in your 20s will likely be different than your stressors in your 50s. And our life circumstances also influence why we come to therapy and what we want and need support with processing. You deserve joy at every stage of your life, and we are here to support you in improving your mental health, regardless of what is going on around you that you cannot control. We believe in honoring and celebrating where you are in the life cycle, using your strengths to help you heal from and cope with past and/or current traumas and current life stressors. Just like the younger age groups, adults can choose what type of therapy interventions you would like to use from session to session. You can choose traditional talk therapy, traditional dance/movement therapy, or a combination of using talk therapy along with movement/play, somatic exploration, music, and art in the way that will work best for you. All modalities corporate CBT and Polyvagal Theory. We have experience with adults of all ages with trauma, neurodiversity (ADHD and ASD), all abilities, and many different mental health conditions.
